material brings forth detroit's dan bell (now a berliner) to dj, along with french artists cabanne on dan's 7th city imprint. this should be a great minimal house prelude to the green light go pre-party the following night at detroit's movement festival!

while there's a lot of events on the night, i'd point out that no one who is playing at other venues in the city can claim as much influence over the others' sounds - in fact over the course of dance music - as dan bell. his minimal sound made a perfect connection in dance music history between chicago's stripped down jack tracks of the late 80s and the micro-house of the late 90s. he continues to select music that fits his niche as a dj; his tracks combine the funk of house with the rawness of techno, making for a set of music that's great for the floor without forsaking the music heads.

ann arbor's now well-known purveyor of german-sounding minimal house is joined by a hieroglyphic being, an unlikely addition to the spectral/ghostly machine whose dirty crazed-jack sound could be coming around to have its time. he appears with his collaborator noleian.

ellen allien has had to cancel her tour due to border-crossing problems.

holding it down on the night will be chicago's kate simko, whose soon-to-be-released sophomore album collaborating as detalles aims at the dancefloor mark - but without losing the things that made the first detalles album special. with chicago's jordan zawideh, playing a minimal techno set.
