france's I:CUBE first came to the attention of chicago after fellow frenchmen daft punk remixed 'disco cubizm' (a track from their first full-length, 'picnic attack') back when daft punk were way out at the forefront (1996). each album i:cube has put out reflects a diversity of taste - house, techno, and downtempo - and a great deal of musical prowess. i was pleasantly surprised at the penchant i:cube has shown for lush techno on such recent tracks as 'tunnel vision' and 'monotone', and his set at DEMF a couple of years back drew nothing but positive reviews. don't miss this.
